Google Plus
Google+ has been all the rage in regards to Social Networks for the last few days. Im going to save judgement until I see how it pans out, however, its off a to a good start. If anything can be labeled as a “Facebook-killer” its this. Perhaps not now, but give it two years and it’ll be giving Facebook a run for its money. That said, if you are on Google Plus, feel free to add me. If you are still looking for an invite, let me know. I should have a few invites left; assuming Google will accept them. Also, I wrote up a more business oriented posts about Google+ on Studio Rhoad if you want to check it out.
Green sky
This is what I saw yesterday afternoon. A string of small, fast moving, storm cells were moving through the area. Although they looked menacing, they didnt produce any funnels or damage until after they passed over us.
New jobby job. Office walk-through.
Yep. After a year of the freelance dream, I finally landed a job with a local advertising agency. Eric Bennecker & Associates is a small shop located and hour south of Knoxville in Sevierville, TN. I was hired on about a month ago and primarily focus on WordPress based websites. The projects thus far have been pretty standard, however, I got to crank out a logo for Four Seasons Tree Service which I am quite pleased with. Check it out:
To give you some insight on the logo, look at the negative space; it creates a tree. The four colored “leaves” at the top represent each of the four seasons.
Hello old friend.
Its been about 10 years since I picked up a racquetball racquet. Back in the day, I was quite the enthusiast. Matter fact, me and my best bro, Josh McDonald, tore up the competition to be ranked Top 5 in the state of South Carolina, Top 32 in the nation and ultimately sponsored by Head and Wilson. But shortly after that, Josh moved to Orlando and I moved to Atlanta for school. We both lost touch with the sport.
Sound Whore
Ive never considered myself a ‘gamer’. Up until two years ago when I bought Amanda a Xbox, it had been years since I owned a console or ever really played. Shortly after the purchase of the Xbox I acquired Modern Warfare 2 and instantly became addicted to online gaming. Now that Black Ops is out, the addiction has only gotten worse and more serious.

I enjoy the game a lot despite the frustrations it ultmately forces, but Black Ops is a game that reeps huge rewards for those with good gun skill. I do NOT have good gun skill. Matter fact, its down right horrible compared to others with far less game time. But considering Ive only been playing first person shooters for a little over a year, I can’t expect much. But every once in a while, I’ll gave a good game.
As of right now, Im almost to my fourth prestige and have a K/D of .90 at 6 days of game time. Lame, I know.

(old pic)
Anyway, in order to help compensate for my lack of gun skill I picked up a set of Turtle Beach PX21s. These will enable me to sound-whore and hopefully give me a bit of advantage over some of the other players.

This upgrade wasn’t really a choice though. The headphones I typically use were broken when our cat landed on them while trying to jump on my lap.

Never the less, the Turtle Beach headset sounds really good. They aren’t surround sound like the Astro A40s, but for my skill level they are perfect. Not to mention I don’t want to drop $300 for the Astros.

Bye bye Blackberry!

Say hello to my little friend, the HTC Aria, courtesy of Alltel’s merger with AT&T. Although its not an iPhone this thing blows the doors off my old Blackberry which was a straight up piece of shit. I’ve downloaded a bunch of apps already including Angry Birds and A WordPress app that allows me to post to my site from my phone which I’m using to write this post. Although it doesn’t quite format the post the way it should (ie the Thumbnails on the home page) but its still pretty rad. I’m stoked to finally have a descent phone! Thanks AT&T. Please don’t ruin it with your shady reception.
Powdah
Winter is here. I wish it would leave.
