After 6 months, the Corolla is FINALLY back home in the comfort of my garage.
In-Car vid from Traction Optional event.
Im sure to your disappointment, neither of these runs include the tire debacle. Never the less, Im happy with how the car was running despite all the body roll. My 6k/4k on GR-2s setup just isn’t cutting it anymore.
8-6 stand-in
Still waiting for the Corolla to come back from Memphis. But in the meantime, this will do. And, yes, those are Crager Smoothies (ie Moon Wheels). Deal with it.
She’ll be back in a few weeks.
After 3 months of neglect, the Corolla will finally have some work done to it. But not by me. LOL. She’ll be back in a few weeks. That’s all the info you get for now.
Video of how I wrapped the Corolla
Wanna get a general idea of what I went through to wrap the Corolla? Watch the video below of vinyl wrapping specialists Creative FX wrapping a Ferrari F430 Spider rosso red to matt black. The one big difference between my wrap job and theirs is that, at the time, I didn’t have access or the ability to use a heat gun to stretch the vinyl. Not using a heat gun or soapy water while applying the vinly makes life very difficult.
Dropping tires and lighting fires
I rarely have problems with the Corolla, but I attended an event a couple of weekends ago that disproves that theory. The first problem came when my battery tie-down became loose, lodged itself under the positive battery terminal then grounded itself to the hood. This caused the battery tie-down to not only weld itself into the bottom of the hood but catch on fire as well. Wasn’t anything major thankfully. With the help of Jerry and Donnie I was able to reconnect everything, secure the battery with a ratchet strap and get back on track within a few minutes.
It didn’t take long before I ran into another issue though. My car is becoming nitorious for losing exhausts. Prior to the event in question, the exhaust has dropped and/or fallen off 4 times while at an event. Well, make that 5 times.
I was coming out of turn turn and dropped the left rear wheel into the gravel. When I came back onto track, at speed, the transition completly snapped my exhaust in half; ripping the baffling cleanly out of the test pipe.
By the end of the day, I had completely removed the rear section of the exhaust, but kep running hard. The 3hrs drive home wasn’t exactly a comfortable one though. Guess I’ll be visit the exhaust shop…… again.
Tail Of The Dragon vid – Day Two
I still haven’t been able to get my hands from Day One’s footage. So rather than waiting I went ahead and put together a quick edit from Day Two’s activities. Its kinda long (22mins), in case you want to skip ahead the 10:30 mark is fairly entertaining. Creepy hillbilly on the loose! And the best driving/run is towards the end at the 16:00 mark.
